SLUICES – WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM
Water flowed to the mills through stone sluices draining water to the mills. The sluices were constructed so that water flows along a well-made cobbledstone bottom, coated with a layer of watertight clay (yellow-gray to reddish) placed underneath. The excess water would pour out through the openings on the side walls, opening or closing depending on the amount of water flowing through the sluices.
