RENOVATION OF CUCAL'S MILL
The Cucal Mill was renovated between 2003 and 2009. The mill had no roof, its northeastern part was demolished to the ground, and parts of the northern wall had collapsed or were threatened with complete destruction. The wooden parts of the mill mechanism were partly rotten. The incoming sluices were in some places destroyed while the ones channeling water toward Pišta's Mill were filled with a half a meter thick layer of soil along with dozens of willow trees.
The building has now been completely restored, the mechanism of the western mill was partly reconstructed, and the the mechanism of the eastern part was completely reconstructed. The renovation of the system of sluices, due to its length and level of neglect, was an extremely demanding job. It was, nevertheless, completely renovated, together with the stone pipes. Today, water again flows back to the mill that has been milling wheat and corn again since 2009.
